This was a great read!! (And it's high time we reconnected!!)

I've always found myself more interested in the type of user friendliness that empowers users rather than handicaps them. I think biasing towards more information (when desired) rather than less is much more user friendly in the broad scheme of things precisely because of the reasons you listed here.

Technology should not be a double edged sword that seeks to both cut away the complexity of the world along with that of the person. It should instead make complexity more accessible!

I'm all for systems that engage people to learn more about how the system works, and by extension, how they themselves can participate in the production of technology rather than just passive users.
